We’re asking voters in Hancock County to write in Brian Thomas for Probate Judge in the primary on June 9. Here’s why:
The only candidate on the ballot now is Republican former District Attorney Matthew Foster, who a few years ago was investigated by the state Attorney General’s office over allegations that he inappropriately touched a 13-year old. He denied the accusation and was not charged, but he later lied about the investigation during a 2022 League of Women Voters candidates forum and lost re-election.
Brian Thomas, a lawyer who has lived in Lamoine for 13 years, is running as a Democratic write-in candidate in primary election. Thomas is a veteran and spent eight years in the Georgia state legislature. He needs 300 write-in votes to be included on to be on the ballot in November general election.
If Thomas gets the required write-in votes, he will challenge Matthew Foster in the general election. Current Probate Judge William B. Blaisdell IV is not seeking re-election.
When you vote in this upcoming primary, remember to write in Brian Thomas for Judge of Probate to be sure that Democrats have a well-qualified candidate for the November general election ballot.
